Blacklist & Whitlist Upload

Blacklist & Whitelist Upload

In addition to general contact uploads, you can now manage channel-based blacklists and whitelists directly from the Targeting > Contact Upload flow.

This allows you to:

  • Exclude specific users from all marketing communications on selected channels, or

  • Re-allow (whitelist) users who were previously blacklisted.

You can manage blacklists/whitelists for the following channels:

  • SMS

  • Email

  • Mobile Push

  • Web Push

  • In-App Widget

Where to Find It

Under Targeting > Contact Upload, an additional step called “Blacklist Upload” is available. From this screen, you can:

  • Upload a file to add users to the blacklist, or

  • Upload a file to remove users from the blacklist (treating the upload as a whitelist).

File Format & Identifiers

The Blacklist Upload uses the same file principles as standard contact uploads:

  • Supported formats: CSV or TXT

  • At least one unique user identifier should be present, such as:

    • extID (External ID)

    • email

    • phonenumber

  • Additional profile attributes can be included if needed, but only the identifiers are required to match users.

The uploaded file is then processed and mapped to existing profiles in Netmera.

Channel-Based Management

When uploading a blacklist/whitelist file, you can select one or more channels to which the change will apply. For each user in the file:

  • If you choose Add to Blacklist, the user will be excluded from all marketing communications for the selected channels.

  • If you choose Remove from Blacklist (Whitelist), the user will be allowed to receive communications again on the selected channels, subject to their consent status.

This makes blacklist management fully channel-based, giving you precise control over where users can or cannot be contacted.

Blacklist vs Whitelist Priority

For each end user, Netmera keeps a history of blacklist and whitelist records by channel. If a user has both types of records:

  • The most recent record wins.

  • If a newer whitelist record exists after a blacklist record, the user is treated as whitelisted (eligible) on that channel.

This ensures that changes made through your latest uploads are always respected and traceable.

Tracking Changes Over Time

Every time you upload a Blacklist or Whitelist file, Netmera stores:

  • Which users were added to or removed from the blacklist

  • For which channels the change applies

  • The date and time of each change

With this enhancement, blacklist/whitelist management becomes:

  • Fully productized inside the Netmera panel

  • Channel-based and precise

  • Traceable over time

  • Less error-prone and operationally simpler for your teams.
