# Get started with N-Assistant

Open N-Assistant, ask your first question and learn how the panel and the expanded view work.

N-Assistant is a chat assistant built into the Netmera panel. You type a question in plain language, and it reads your Netmera data, interprets it and answers with insights and recommended actions. There is nothing to configure before your first question.

This page walks through how to open N-Assistant, the panel, the steps to ask a question, and the expanded view that gives you more room to read longer answers.

### Before you start

* N-Assistant answers with the data of the app you are working in.
* Your Netmera role decides which tools N-Assistant can use on your behalf. Data of an app you are not a member of cannot be accessed.
* N-Assistant has read-only access. It analyzes and recommends, and it does not change anything in your account.

See Security and privacy for the full list of access rules.

### Open N-Assistant

N-Assistant is available from the robot button in the bottom-right corner of the Netmera panel. Select the button to open the N-Assistant panel.

### The N-Assistant panel

N-Assistant opens as a panel on the right side of the screen, on top of the page you are working on. This keeps your Dashboard visible while you ask questions about the numbers on it.

<figure><img src="https://1642824329-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FX6uilbEAw42gqsudlclY%2Fuploads%2FsQyP6b5xTGZaRONLT0Go%2FEkran%20Resmi%202026-10-07%2011.07.34.png?alt=media&#x26;token=e3c90db8-9604-4eea-81e3-db00a950ab13" alt="The N-Assistant panel open on the right side of the Netmera Dashboard, showing the welcome message and the message box."><figcaption><p>The N-Assistant panel open on the Dashboard.</p></figcaption></figure>

The panel has the following elements:

<table><thead><tr><th width="220">Element</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>N-Assistant header</strong></td><td>Shows the assistant name and the panel controls.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>New Chat</strong> (edit icon)</td><td>Starts a new, empty conversation.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Chat History</strong> (clock icon)</td><td>Opens the list of your previous conversations.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Expand</strong> (arrows icon)</td><td>Opens N-Assistant in the expanded view with a conversation list on the left and the answer on the right.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Close</strong> (X icon)</td><td>Closes the panel. Your conversation is saved.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Welcome message</strong></td><td>Appears in an empty conversation: “What are we working on in Netmera today?”</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Message box</strong></td><td>The field where you type a question. It shows “Type your message...” until you start typing.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Send button</strong> (arrow icon)</td><td>Sends your question to N-Assistant.</td></tr></tbody></table>

### Ask your first question

1. Select the robot button in the bottom-right corner of the panel. N-Assistant opens on the right side of the screen.
2. Type a question in the message box. Start with a business question, for example, “Analyze the performance of the push notification campaigns I sent recently.”
3. Select the send button.
4. Wait while N-Assistant reads the relevant data. The time depends on how much data the question covers.
5. Read the answer. It can include a written summary, key figures, charts, tables and recommended actions. See Understand N-Assistant answers for how to read each part.
6. Type a follow-up question to go deeper, for example, “Break this down by best send hours.” N-Assistant keeps the context of the conversation.

{% hint style="info" %}
Name the channel, campaign or time range when you know it. A specific question gets a specific answer.
{% endhint %}

### Use the expanded view

Answers with charts and tables are easier to read with more space. Select **Expand** to switch to the expanded view.

In the expanded view:

* The left side lists your conversations, with **New Chat** at the top. Each conversation is titled after your first question.
* The right side shows the selected conversation with the message box at the bottom.
* Select **Collapse** (the arrows icon in the header) to return to the side panel.

### Start a new conversation

Select **New Chat** to start a fresh conversation. Use one conversation per topic, such as one for push performance and another for retention. Each conversation keeps its own context, and all of them stay available in your chat history. See Chat history.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://user.netmera.com/netmera-user-guide/ai-features/n-assistant/get-started-with-n-assistant.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
